A success story!

How the chain grew and became strong...

The first VITACURA shop opened in 1997, inside Maracanã Stadium. In the beginning, there was no infrastructure or dissemination of the information that Maracanã was open to the public, and tourists would scarcely visit the place during the week. After inauguration of the shop, VITACURA’s team started to contact the tourism sector, through various agencies such as: ABAV ― the Brazilian Association of Travel Agencies, RIOTUR ― Hotels and Restaurants, Rio Convention Bureau, with the main inbound Tourism Operators in Rio de Janeiro, Tourist Guides, among others. After all this promotion work the picture has reversed and the investment has solidified through contact with quality providers that started to supply the shop with a wide variety of products at affordable prices to the consumer.

In 2002, at Corcovado Train Station, a new VITACURA shop was opened. Due to its success, the Corcovado Train administration offered another space for setting up a second shop at the sight to better service the tourists that visit the Christ the Redeemer.

Due to its privileged location, filled with natural beauty, Fort Copacabana was the place chosen for the inauguration of yet another VITACURA branch in 2008, offering even more wonders to Tourists visiting the sight.

In 2010, the VITACURA group decided to open a new retail chain, including a virtual shop, and started to name its new endeavors under the RIO IN BOX flag, opening shops at Avenida Nossa Senhora de Copacabana and inside Rio Othon Palace Hotel.

In its group of stores, VITACURA and RIO IN BOX have a record with more than 750 Tourist Guides that take the visitors to see the Maracanã Stadium, Corcovado and Fort Copacabana. This way, we encourage Tourists to get to know, in addition to the products offered in our stores, a little more of our national culture.
